# Credo stock: the graded bulls held through a 34% drop, and the price came back

> Credo fell 34% in the first two weeks of September, around its earnings. The graded accounts we track stayed 29 to 2 bullish through the drop, and the stock closed October 2 at $218.64, up 46% from the low and back above its pre-earnings price. The receipts, dated.

Credo Technology makes the cables and chips that move data between AI servers. Over the first two
weeks of September, around its earnings, it lost a third of its value. The accounts we grade stayed
bullish the whole way down, 29 calls to 2, and on October 2 the stock closed back above where it
stood before the print.

## The drop

Credo reported on September 1, after the close. Revenue was up 114.7% on the year and guidance
went up, but gross margin came in lower and growth slowed from the quarter before. The stock
closed at $206.63 that day, already 8.6% down on the session, and at $165.22 the next, down
another 20%. It kept sliding for two more weeks and bottomed at $150.09 on September 14.

From the August 31 close, that is a fall of 33.6%. From the August 17 close of $282.82, it is
47%.

## What the graded room did

From September 1 to September 14, the accounts we track posted about Credo 117 times, 85 bullish
and 13 bearish. That is the crowd. The calls that count most in a Quantral
[signal score](/learn/what-is-a-stock-signal) come from accounts with a graded
[track record](/learn/how-a-track-record-is-graded), and those ran 29 bullish to 2 bearish, from
12 accounts.

The two bearish calls came on the print itself: one account reported the after-hours drop,
another said the stock could not hold with growth slowing. Both were right about September 2.
After that, no graded account posted a bearish call on Credo until the stock had bounced more
than 40%.

## Who held, and at what price

The accounts below made graded calls on Credo between September 1 and October 4. Five of the
seven rank in our top 20 by track record. The close is Credo's price on the day of each
account's first bullish call in the drop.

| Account | Graded calls<br />Sep 1<br />to Oct 4 | First<br />bullish<br />call | Credo<br />close | What they said |
|---|---:|---|---:|---|
| @KawzInvests | 5 : 0 | Sep 1 | $206.63 | a bullish deep dive on Credo's lead in active electrical cables |
| @CKCapitalxx | 15 : 1 | Sep 2 | $165.22 | "one of the best buys here at $160? I think so." |
| @babyfolio | 15 : 1 | Sep 2 | $165.22 | the selloff was overdone, since the slowdown was already disclosed |
| @michaelsikand | 8 : 0 | Sep 2 | $165.22 | "bought the FEAR" after the crash, calling it a beat-and-raise quarter |
| @ParadisLabs | 3 : 0 | Sep 2 | $165.22 | averaging down, because the earnings were good |
| @daniel_koss | 1 : 0 | Sep 8 | $167.75 | added on the pullback, at a better valuation |
| @Pep_Invest | 4 : 0 | Sep 15 | $150.39 | long-term potential from cables and the new optical line |

KawzInvests, in the first row, was bullish before the print and took the 20% day with everyone
else. So did others in this room. Judge them on what they did next.
CKCapitalxx and michaelsikand both kept adding through the slide, and on September 14, the day
of the low, michaelsikand named Credo among the AI stocks he was buying into the sell-off.

Across the whole stretch, the graded accounts made 62 bullish calls and 4 bearish ones. The two
bearish calls after the print were trims: CKCapitalxx and babyfolio each took some profit on
September 25 and 26, after the stock was back above $190.

## Then the price came back

Credo closed at $187.27 on September 21, $210.97 on September 25, and $218.64 on October 2. That
is 45.7% above the September 14 low, and 5.8% above the $206.63 close the day before the drop.

## The Lululemon pair

Lululemon reported the same week and fell almost as far: $121.77 on September 3 to $100.61 on
September 4. Our September recap put the two side by side. Credo finished the month down 14.8%
on a graded room of 57 bullish to 4 bearish. Lululemon finished down 16.4% on a graded room of
5 to 4, and its crowd was bearish, 43 to 72.

The two stocks took earnings drops of the same size in the same month. One graded room was
nearly unanimous, and the other was split. Since September 28, the last close in that recap, Credo has gained 13.5% and
Lululemon has lost another 6.1%.

## We printed it losing, four times

Credo appeared in four of our pieces while it was falling, and each one marked it as an open bet,
printed before anyone knew how it would end:

| Piece | What we printed | Credo close<br />behind it |
|---|---|---:|
| **[Who is CKCapitalxx](/blog/who-is-ckcapitalxx)**, Sep 2 | Credo 42 to 0 in his book, after it "gave back almost 9% on September 1" | $206.63 |
| **[The best stock to invest in](/blog/best-stock-to-invest-in)**, Sep 11 | a score of 83, flagged as an open bet, 35% below August 11 | $160.31 |
| **[Semiconductor stocks](/blog/semiconductor-stocks)**, Sep 16 | a score of 86, 42% below a month earlier | $150.09 |
| **[Stock market sentiment](/blog/stock-market-sentiment)**, Oct 1 | the one stock in the table that fell, down 15% on a 57 to 4 graded room | $192.67 |

The September 16 read sat on the closing low. Credo now trades above the price behind all four.

## The honest half

This is one stock over five weeks, and the recovery is still partial. Credo is 22.7% below its
August 17 close. Some of the accounts in the table were bullish going into the print and
lost 20% in a day before they were right. The two accounts that called the drop rank among our ten best
graded, and on September 2 they read it right.

The rest of AI hardware bounced too. From the same September 14 close to October 2, Astera Labs
rose 36.3%, Lumentum 30.0% and Marvell 24.4%. Credo's 45.7% beat all three, and a sector rally
explains part of it. The Lululemon pair is the cleaner test: a drop of the same size, a split
room, and no recovery.

## What to take from this

A mention count would have told you Credo was loudest on the day of the crash. The graded read
told you something different: the accounts with the best records stayed long, most of them at
prices between $150 and $168, and kept saying why. A high score on a falling stock is an open bet, and this one
paid.

As of this morning Credo carries a 7-day Quantral score of 83, a reading of the current
conversation and not a prediction. See the live reading on Credo in Quantral: the score, every
call behind it, and the track record of each account that made one.
