# Who is Togi? Shane Stoffer and the Moderna trade, minute by minute

> Togi is Shane Stoffer, the streamer behind @ShaneStoffer, who flipped a Moderna calls position into about $470,000 of puts on Oct 22 and caught the leak-driven crash. The timestamps show he got lucky rather than moving the stock, and the sell-the-news case was already public from accounts with records.

Togi is Shane Stoffer, a streamer and YouTuber who posts on X as
[@ShaneStoffer](https://x.com/ShaneStoffer) to about 140,000 followers. Since the end of August
he has been running a public stock challenge, and on October 22 he flipped his whole options
account from Moderna calls to Moderna puts. Ninety minutes later, leaked trial data sent the
stock down 20% on the day, and he sold out with his account up 37% on the day. His post announcing the puts
drew more than 619,000 views.

The timestamps show he got lucky, and he says so himself: Moderna was already sliding when he
posted, and the leak broke it 90 minutes later. The sell-the-news case he stumbled into
had been posted in the two days before by accounts we track with real records, while the account
cheering his dream trade loudest ranks in the bottom fifth of ours.

## Who is Togi?

Togi is the display name of Shane Stoffer. The parts of his bio he states publicly:

- **Handle:** @ShaneStoffer on X since May 2024, with a link to togi.us and the bio line
 "AREYOUNOTENTERTAINED?"
- **Work:** streams on Kick under TOGI and posts videos on YouTube. He describes himself as 24.
- **The stock challenge:** in September he started posting a brokerage account he said began
at $950,000, with trade-by-trade updates, and a separate options account where the Moderna
 trade ran.

Every position size and profit figure on this page comes from his own posts and screenshots.
They are his claims, not verified records.

## The Togi Moderna trade, as a timeline

The trade took five weeks and ran on what he called a dream. All times are Eastern, and the
Moderna prices come from public daily closes and five-minute bars.

| When (ET) | What he posted | MRNA |
|---|---|---:|
|
| "Sold RACE for MRNA": about 985 shares, worth $152,828, in the challenge account | $154.04 close |
|
| First Moderna options, $48,518 of calls at $240 to $290 strikes, December and January expiries | $203.21 close |
|
| "I have quadrupled down because I had a dream about the stock" | $197.00 close |
|
| Says he won $275,000 the week before, took it "out of the casino" and put it into Moderna calls | |
|
| "As long as $MRNA hits $330 by November 6th I am so chilling" | |
|
| Trims about $100,000, keeps $320,000 open, price target $350 "based on a dream" | $225.00 close |
|
| Account screenshot at $607,809, up 34.5% on the day | $236.50 close |
|
| Account screenshot at $364,412, down 33.4% on the day | $218.01 close |
|
| Still in calls; account at $566,148, down 15% on the day | about $237 |
|
| "FULL PORT PUTS," based on "the inverse dream thesis": $470,615 of puts, 505 contracts, $170 to $200 strikes, Oct 30 to Dec 18 expiries | about $233 |
|
| Leak reports hit; the stock falls from $224.65 to $196.72 and is briefly halted | |
|
| Sells the puts that are in the money | |
|
| "Fuck it sold it all." Account screenshot: $915,451, up 37% on the day | about $189 |
|
| | $202.63, down 17.6% |

That evening he posted the reasoning in full. By his account, the original plan was to stay
long and switch to puts at Friday's close, the day before Moderna's results were due at the
ESMO cancer conference. The stock fell hard on Thursday morning, his account dropped about
$200,000, and he flipped early "in a panic" so he would still have money left for the
sell-the-news trade. He called what came next a "giga stroke of luck."

## Did Togi cause the Moderna drop?

No. Some news said that Moderna fell because Togi disclosed his puts. He did post before the
drop, but the clock rules him out as the cause:

| Time (ET) | MRNA | Change on the day | What happened |
|---|---:|---:|---|
|
| $233 | -5% | Togi posts the puts |
|
| $224 | -9% | 70 minutes later: a steady slide, no break |
|
| $231 | -6% | A bounce |
|
| $217 to $197 | -12% to -20% | Leak reports spread; trading is briefly halted |
|
| $181 low | -26% | Day's low |
|
| $202.63 | -17.6% | Close |

Moderna was already down about 5% when he posted, and it kept drifting lower for the next hour
on ordinary volume. The break came 90 minutes later, with five-minute volume jumping to several
times the morning's pace, as reports of leaked Phase 3 melanoma vaccine results spread. The leaked numbers showed the vaccine with Keytruda cut the risk of recurrence or
death by 42% against Keytruda alone, a smaller benefit than the earlier Phase 2 trial had shown,
and Merck confirmed the results had come out early, two days before the ESMO presentation.

The coverage credits the leak:
**[CNBC](https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/22/moderna-stock-cancer-vaccine-data-leak.html)**,
**[The Motley Fool](https://www.fool.com/coverage/stock-market-today/2026/10/22/stock-market-today-oct-22-moderna-stock-plummets-18-on-melanoma-vaccine-data-leak-reports/)**
and **[BioPharma Dive](https://www.biopharmadive.com/news/moderna-merck-esmo-intismeran-melanoma-vaccine-results/833765/)**,
where one analyst called it a sell-the-news reaction. A half-million-dollar options position
does not knock 20% off a company of Moderna's size, and Togi himself calls it luck.

The story spread anyway. As the halt hit, Kevin Xu, who
[built a company around verified trades](/blog/who-is-kevin-xu), posted that "we are
witnessing the greatest trader in finX history." Mr_Derivatives went further 13 minutes later: "A
gambling streamer moving a $100B market cap company lol. Ok half joking."

<MidCta heading="Check Moderna's score before the next catalyst" text="In the Quantral app you see Moderna's current score, how bullish or bearish the accounts we track are on it, and which of them have a graded record worth leaning on, before the next headline moves the stock." />

## The sell-the-news case was public before the leak

Togi's flip to puts landed on a view that accounts we track had been posting for two days, and
those accounts have records.

| Account | When | What they posted |
|---|---|---|
| @Frenchie_ |
| Moderna is the year's best performer, and winners like that rarely repeat: the catalyst is in the price, the multiple has exploded, the shorts have covered |
| @seedy19tron |
| At $246 the stock needs about 20 times peak sales of the vaccine, against an analyst target of $125 set two months earlier with no new efficacy data since |
| Moez Kassam |
| On Anthony Pompliano's YouTube show: expects the cancer-trial hype to fade into a sell-the-news move around the data and earnings |

[Frenchie_](/voices/frenchie_) ranks in the top fifth of our track-record ranking.
seedy19tron ranks in the top third, and his own record shows why a record beats any single post:
he shorted Moderna at $196.50 on October 7 and closed that short at a loss eight days later, then
made the valuation case again on the 21st. Moez Kassam, a fund manager, appeared on a YouTube
show we track; we have not graded enough of his calls to rank him.

On the other side of the room, on October 20, a r/wallstreetbets user posted that he was bearish
on Moderna and holding his short. The replies piled on: "Cured cancer and you decide to short it?" and "Easy
money on calls for the past 2 months." The same afternoon @Mr_Derivatives, an account that had been
cheering Togi's trade since mid-October, posted that Togi had "outperformed 99% of Fintwit and 99% of hedge
funds with this one position." That account ranks in the bottom fifth of our ranking.

The dream got the views; the accounts with records had already made the case. Spotting the risk
in Moderna going into ESMO took knowing which accounts had been right before, and the
[priced-in](/learn/what-does-priced-in-mean) case was sitting in their posts.

## Togi stock trades: his record so far

He has posted three other trades from the challenge. Read these as his claims too:

| Company | The trade |
|---|---|
| GoPro (GPRO) | Aug 31 to Sep 1: bought 560,000 shares at an average $0.72 the day news broke that YouTuber Markiplier had taken a stake, sold the next day at about $1.32, "$336,000 profit" |
| GoPro (GPRO) | From Sep 6: bought back at about $1.52 to $1.55; logged a $16,000 loss on part of it, and the shares he still held on Oct 14 were down about 24% on cost |
| Tenon Medical (TNON) | Sep 10 to 11: bought for $153,000 after seeing it trend on Yahoo, sold for $265,000, "+$112K" |
| Moderna (MRNA) | Oct 5 to Oct 22, options: account at $915,451 after the puts, up $670,088 over the past month per his screenshot |

That adds up to two big wins, a smaller give-back and one lucky flip in about two months, a
short and lopsided sample. He is the first to say he is gambling. His post as he sold the
last puts: "Don't copy me this is Giga fun but also gambling."

## The record is the signal

The Moderna post is a great story: a 619,000-view all-in flip that landed 90 minutes before a
20% crash. As a signal, it is one trade from someone who says he does not know what he is doing,
made for a reason he describes as a panic. A single [all-in bet](/learn/diamond-hands-meaning)
tells you nothing about the next one.

The two graded accounts that made the case before the leak rank in
our top fifth and top third. The account cheering the dream trade ranks in the bottom fifth. If you want to check any voice the same way,
**[how to verify a track record](/learn/how-to-verify-a-track-record)** walks through it, and
**[how to tell if a finance influencer is worth following](/learn/how-to-tell-if-a-finance-influencer-is-worth-following)**
covers the warning signs. In the Quantral app,
every call those accounts make is graded as it resolves, so you can see who has been right on
Moderna before the next catalyst arrives.
