Starlink stock: you buy it as SpaceX (SPCX), 13.6 million subscribers included

A hairline-outlined planet ringed by a thin elliptical orbit carrying small outlined squares like satellites, one of them filled flat slate blue, with a tiny lavender dot on the planet.

There is no separate Starlink stock. Starlink is part of SpaceX, and the only way to own it is to buy SpaceX, which trades on the Nasdaq as SPCX. SpaceX has not announced a Starlink spin-off or a separate listing.

One SPCX share closed at $159.31 on October 21. Starlink sits in SpaceX's Connectivity segment, which brought in $5.2 billion of the company's $14.6 billion third-quarter revenue, with 13.6 million Starlink subscribers.

No. Starlink has no ticker, because it is not a separate company with its own shares. The symbol to look up is SPCX, SpaceX's ticker on the Nasdaq since June 12, 2026.

Searches for a Starlink release date or a Starlink IPO price assume Starlink will list on its own. It didn't. SpaceX listed as a whole, at $135 a share, with Starlink inside it. No spin-off has been announced since. The IPO details and the lockup schedule are in our SpaceX IPO guide.

When you buy SPCX, you also buy SpaceX's rockets and its AI business, which came with the xAI deal and now earns more than Starlink does. Our xAI stock page covers that half.

SpaceX reported its third quarter on October 20. According to Via Satellite:

Q3 2026Figure
Connectivity revenue (mostly Starlink)$5.2 billion
Change from a year earlier69%
Change from the second quarter22%
Starlink consumer subscribers13.6 million
Subscribers added in the quarter1.6 million
Starlink Mobile monthly usersMore than 22 million
Aircraft contractedAbout 12,000
SpaceX total revenue$14.6 billion

Starlink is still growing fast, but the rate slowed. Connectivity revenue grew 32% from the first quarter to the second, and 22% from the second to the third. In the same quarter, SpaceX's AI segment, Super Intelligence, brought in $7.6 billion and overtook Connectivity as the biggest segment. Starlink is no longer SpaceX's biggest business.

Buying Starlink means buying SPCX, the same way you would buy any US stock:

  1. Open or log in to a brokerage account that offers US stocks.
  2. Search for SPCX. Not SPCE, which is Virgin Galactic.
  3. Pick a number of shares, or a dollar amount if your broker sells fractional shares.
  4. Place a market order (fills now) or a limit order (fills only at your price or better).

The full walkthrough, with notes for buyers outside the US, is in how to buy SpaceX stock. If you are weighing a 2x fund instead of the shares, read our SpaceX ETF guide first.

A search for why Starlink stock is low is a question about SPCX, the only Starlink stock there is. The October 21 close of $159.31 against the prices a quote page shows:

First-day close (June 12)$160.951.0%

All-time low close (August 5)$108.2747.1%

SPCX is above its IPO price and well above its August low, but about a quarter below its June peak. Most of that gap opened in the first two months. The stock fell by almost half from the June high to the August 5 close, the day after its first earnings report, when traders focused on the capital spending line. It recovered through August, traded between about $140 and $155 in September, and rose 7.8% on October 21, the day after the third-quarter report. The chart and the lockup dates behind those moves are in how SPCX has traded since the IPO.

Searching for Starlink stock turns up other satellite companies, and none of them is Starlink. AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) builds satellites meant to connect directly to ordinary phones through carrier partners. That is close to what Starlink Mobile does, but AST is a separate company with no tie to SpaceX. Iridium and Globalstar also sell connectivity from orbit. Our space stocks ranking sorts them by what they sell and how the accounts we track read each one.
